Europe in 2026: nightmare or utopia? (Carl Bildt, WEF)

From the refugee crisis to Brexit, tensions in the European Union today have the potential to tear the bloc apart - or pull it closer together. To illustrate what’s at stake as Europe’s leaders meet in Brussels this week, here are two very different scenarios for what could lie in store in ten years’ time. They are not intended as predictions, but rather a reflection of the consequences that today’s decisions could have for tomorrow.
