Universities are useless if do not help young people to understand the complexity of the evolving worlds-of-life. Linearity and disciplinary culture "betray" reality. Particular knowledges are crucial to the Knowledge only if they are integrated, "contaminating" reciprocally. The "frontier" of the university as "universitas" is "transdisciplinary".
If the disciplinary specialization is a good thing, the hyper-specialization is a problem. Often we speak, in Italy, about the decline of humanities (particularly history, geography, anthropology, philosophy) and I think it is a disgrace; today more than ever, in fact, the world needs to get back to the "truth of reality". Every human person has to mature a "complex approach" to reality and this is possible if our knowledge is open, transdisciplinary, self-critical and critical, dubious (which means not precarious).
Today's young generations are so technologized and hyper-specialized to be returned to the pre-history of Knowledge which becomes pre-history of coexistence (in the triumph of indifference, individualism, inhuman).
