The Indonesian Embassy in Seoul held a seminar on 6 March as part of efforts to attract more South Korean investments. Deputy Chief of Mission Cecep Herawan told the gathering that, ‘our administration’s message is clear: Indonesia is open for business and becoming more business-friendly’. To encourage investment, Herawan also drew attention to the reforms that have been announced by President Joko Widodo: ‘Having a business background himself, President Joko Widodo is keen on reforming the economy fast and swift [sic]’. While it is true that Jokowi may be ‘keen’ to reform Indonesia’s economy quickly, it is unlikely that this will be the case.
