We won’t act like them, we will not use violence or force, we are peaceful (people), we believe in peace, in peaceful popular resistance.

Conspiring against BDS (Ramzy Baroud, Arab News)
A thousand Israelis and their supporters gathered in Jerusalem’s International Convention Center on March 28 at a conference aimed at combating the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement (BDS).

Most difficult Intifada yet (Ramzy Baroud, Arab News)
Whether history moves in a straight or cyclical line, it matters little. The uncontested fact is that it is in constant motion. Thus, the current situation in Palestine is particularly frustrating to a generation that has grown up after the Oslo Peace Accord because they have been brought up within a strange historical phenomenon: Where the earth below their feet keeps shrinking and when time stands still.

Divide-and-rule mindset (Ramzy Baroud, Arab News)
The sudden Russian military withdrawal from Syria has left political commentators puzzled. Few of the analyses offered should be taken seriously. There is little solid information as of why the Russian leader decided to end his country’s military push in Syria. The intervention, which began last September, was enough to change the direction of the war on many fronts.

Moral response to Israeli racism (Ramzy Baroud, Arab News)
A foray of condemnations of the boycott of Israel seems to have fallen on deaf ears. Calls from western governments, originating from the UK, the US, Canada and others, to criminalize the boycott of Israel have hardly slowed down the momentum of the pro-Palestinian Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement. On the contrary, it has accelerated.

Unmistakable signs of fascism (Ramzy Baroud, Arab News)
Regardless of the outcome of the American presidential primaries, or even the result of the general elections next November, a frightening phenomenon is underway. The US has decidedly moved to the right, in fact the ultra-right; class differences are more pronounced than ever before, thanks to decades of neoliberal policies, the kind of capitalism that has concentrated the wealth in even fewer hands; racism is on the rise and the unmistakable signs of fascism are evident whenever Donald Trump holds a campaign rally.

Why The West Is Keen On Dividing The Arabs (Ramzy Baroud, Eurasia Review)
When Arab streets exploded with fury, from Tunis to Sanaa, pan-Arabism seemed, then, like a nominal notion. Neither did the so-called ‘Jasmine Revolution’ use slogans that affirmed its Arab identity, nor did angry Egyptian youth raise the banner proclaiming Arab unity atop the high buildings adjacent to Tahrir Square.

The Arab-West relationship (Ramzy Baroud, Arab News)
When Arab streets exploded with fury, from Tunis to Sanaa, Pan-Arabism then seemed like a nominal notion. The so-called Jasmine Revolution did not use slogans that affirmed its Arab identity, nor did angry Egyptian youth raise the banner proclaiming Arab unity atop the high buildings adjacent to Tahrir Square.

The Clinton-Sanders debate (Ramzy Baroud, Arab News)
As US liberals and some leftists are pulling up their sleeves in anticipation of a prolonged battle for the Democratic Party presidential nomination, the tussle becomes particularly ugly whenever the candidates’ foreign policy agendas are evoked.

Israel’s sham democracy (Ramzy Baroud, Arab News)
The Israeli “Right,” as demonstrated by a scary coalition of right-wing nationalists, ultranationalists and religious zealots, deserves all the bad press it has garnered since its formation last May.

Gaza: A ticking time bomb (Ramzy Baroud, Arab News)
It is not true that only three wars have taken place since Hamas won parliamentary elections in 2006 in the Occupied Palestinian Territories. Other wars that were deemed insignificant or “skirmishes” also took place. Operation Returning Echo in March 2012, for example, killed and wounded over 100 people. But since the death toll, relative to the other major onslaughts seemed trivial, it was not cited as “war,” per se.
