Is it Time for America to Quit NATO? (Ted Galen Carpenter, The National Interest)

NATO will celebrate its sixty-seventh anniversary in April. Instead of being an occasion for the usual expression of mind-numbing clichés about the alliance’s enduring importance both to U.S. security and world peace, it should become an opportunity for a long overdue assessment of whether the NATO commitment truly serves America’s best interests in the twenty-first century. There is mounting evidence that it does not.

NATO’s Syria War Footing Under Cover of Migrant Crisis (Finian Cunningham, Strategic Culture Foundation)

The US-led NATO alliance is dispatching warships to the Mediterranean to allegedly help ease Europe’s refugee crisis. However, a closer look at the naval vessels in the NATO mission shows that this is no refugee rescue attempt – but rather a full-on war mobilization.

Sweden is stepping up its military capabilities and exercises as an element of its anti-Russia policy. It will increase the number of training events with NATO, including those on Swedish NATO territory, Defence Minister Peter Hultqvist told Dagens Nyheter on June 26.
