Diplomacy alone cannot stop barbarism in Syria (Mohamed Chebarro, Al Arabiya)
The latest sequence of siege, death, and destruction in Aleppo is just another example of an international community that has gone irrelevant, incapable and indolent.

Does Assad’s regime have a policy of killing journalists and civilians? (Mohamed Chebarro, Al Arabiya)
It is not an exaggeration to say that Syrian president, who has been battling a people’s uprising in his country since 2011, is a masterful journalist’s killer. This is the finding of a lawsuit in the US. Assad’s record is hard to defend, some even see his record as that of someone bent on masterful intrigue, deceit and blackmail.

Cameron’s legacy: Brexit and a divided kingdom? (Mohamed Chebarro, Al Arabiya)
Prime Minister David Cameron lasted as head of the Conservative party for 11 years. He headed the UK’s first coalition government since World War-2 and went on to lead with a parliamentary majority in 2015, the first for the Conservatives after 22 years.

In football and economy, this has been the ‘small is beautiful’ season (Mohamed Chebarro, Al Arabiya)
It is always inspiring to watch big sporting events such as Euro 2016. Tournaments like these, with all their ups and downs, also reflect the moods and dilemmas of participating nations.

President Obama, the apologist? (Mohamed Chebarro, Al Arabiya)
President Barack Obama must be applauded for becoming the first sitting American president to visit Hiroshima, the site of the US nuclear attack that brought the Second World War to a close. He also visited Vietnam, the third by a sitting president in the quagmire that killed 50,000 US soldiers in a pointless cold war confrontation with Russia and China

Killing of Hezbollah’s Badreddine points to open score settling in Syria (Mohamed Chebarro, Al Arabiya)
Few will mourn the killing of Hezbollah military wing head in Syria. Many are breathing easy after his assassination through either a planted bomb or a missile fired on land by Syrian opposition forces. It could even have been carried out by an unknown drone or an Israeli jet fighter close to Damascus airport

London mayor elections: A good week for Muslims in the West (Mohamed Chebarro, Al Arabiya)
By his own admission, Sadiq Khan, the new Mayor of London, never dreamt of becoming a mayor. However, it has now become a reality for this self-made hard working moderate British Muslim of Pakistani origin.

Geneva, Assad, and the numbers game in Syria (Mohamed Chebarro, Al Arabiya)
It is not about Syrian President Bashar al-Assad staying on for six months or six years. The Geneva talks, we were told, was a forum to try and end the killing in Syria based on UN resolution 2254. The Assad regime and its close associates should depart as soon as possible, if what is left of Syria stands any chance of being stabilized and reconstructed.

Brussels, the sanctuary for terror suspects, is attacked! (Mohamed Chebarro, Al Arabiya)
The security forces in France and Belgium hardly had the time to rejoice over the arrest of Salah Abdussalam, after a four months manhunt across Europe, until terrorists struck again, this time in Brussels. The attacks did not come as a surprise as many governments have warned, time and again, that attacks are being planned and were imminent. The PM of Belgium clearly stated: “What we feared has happened”, warning of the possibility of more attacks in the future.

Syrians must surrender now to fight another day (Mohamed Chebarro, Al Arabiya)
All the indications from Syria are that the war is won by Assad and his allies. This is thanks to Russian fire power, Iranian foreign legion militias, and the regime’s deep state still alive and kicking in many opposition held Syrian towns.
