We at An-Nahar newspaper were the first to voice rejection of Asharq al-Awsat’s April 1 caricature depicting the Lebanese state as an “April fool.” We rejected it because it insulted our flag, country, and thus all of us. The Lebanese people still adhere to our identity, country, flag, Arabism, relations with Arab brotherly countries, and openness with the West.
