Dialogue is the only answer to solution of Kashmir problem (Sudip Bhattacharyya, South Asia Monitor)
India has officially and repeatedly stated that Kashmir is an integral part of India, though the then Prime Minister of India, Manmohan Singh, said after the 2010 Kashmir unrest that his government was willing to grant autonomy to the region within the purview of Indian constitution if there was consensus on this issue. Although, currently, it is a Bharatiya Janata Party government headed by Narendra Modi at the centre, we may take this – negotiations within the limits of the Indian constitution – to be the farthest the government is willing to go in order to meet the demands of people in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. In fact, this intention was further confirmed when the PM called for a dialogue to find a permanent solution within the framework of the Indian constitution.
